Viral Video of Sword-Wielding Woman: Is It Delhi CM Rekha Gupta?

Rekha Gupta officially assumed office as Delhi’s Chief Minister after securing a victory in the Shalimar Bagh constituency, where she defeated Aam Aadmi Party’s Bandana Kumari. She replaces Atishi and is now the fourth woman to hold the top post in the national capital.

As congratulatory messages flooded social media, discussions on her political trajectory—from her association with the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) to becoming the Delhi CM—gained traction. However, a viral video circulating online claims to feature Rekha Gupta, sparking widespread debate.

A video showcasing a woman skillfully wielding a sword has surfaced online, with users alleging that the individual in the footage is the newly appointed Chief Minister of Delhi. The video first appeared on Facebook and quickly spread across various platforms, including X (formerly Twitter), with numerous posts reinforcing the claim.

One widely shared post read, “Old video of RSS worker Rekha Gupta. She was active in ABVP before joining BJP and, after years of dedication, became an MLA. Now, she is the Chief Minister of Delhi. Congratulations!” The post even tagged Rekha Gupta’s official handle.

A reverse image search of key frames from the viral clip led to the original post shared by Payal Jadhav. Jadhav, a known figure in Marathi cinema, debuted in the 2023 film Baaplyok and has acted in television series Manvat Murders along with a minor role in Three of Us.

Jadhav holds a Master’s degree in Bharatanatyam from Lalit Kala Kendra and has trained under Ashwini Ekbote. The original video, which is now being falsely linked to Rekha Gupta, was first uploaded by Jadhav on her social media platforms.
